I hope all of you who work with teens (or want to start!) in your library will join this blog to share experiences, questions, joys and woes of working with young people. Send me an email at mkeefe@midhudson.org to be put on the blog list so you can both read and post messages.

Hi-
This is a nice introduction to blogging. Margaret recommended a great book - “Blogging for Teens” which I am reading. Being completely new to blogging myself this and the book are a nice introduction. I plan to do a series of workshops on blogging to our computer obsessed inner-city teens in Hudson. Hoping that by addressing the content part, I can inspire some young writers to write and perhaps get them to read as well!!!

I too am new to blogging. I am looking into getting teens together with a book group and need to know what they know. I would like to set up a library blog for them to speak out on what they are reading. I am also looking for a GOOD book list for teens. Any information would be helpful.

If you take a look at the Teen Resources site at http://midhudson.org/department/youth/Teen_Resources.htm, you’ll see many lists. I would recommend the NYPL’s Books for the Teen Age. MK

Hi everyone,
I’ve been blogging for the Plattekill Library for almost a year. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I really enjoy connecting with the teens and they love that we have attempted to get to know them by participating in something that they really relate with. While I don’t get many comments on the actual blog, I get a lot of feedback in person, and I think that it is terrific that they feel comfortable enough to come into the library to talk to us about things.

Hi everyone:
I am glad to see more posts to the blog (if those are what you call them!). I have a question to put out. I am going to do a games tournament next month, and I want to do games that are fast moving. Yu Gi Oh is on the list — several middle schoolers are pestering me about that. Can anyone share experiences on their game tournaments, suggest the best games, etc.?
thanks for any feedback. Luisa

Is this a non-video games type tournament? If so, I believe Magic the Gathering is in the same type category as Yu Gi Oh, which is the cards and action type stuff.
Hope this helps, and good luck with it.
Angie
